I AM GREEN! INNOVATOR! I AM SMART! MEDE HOME

Can R&D Center, which established in order to earn the official identity of our R&D studies that we have been doing for many years, continues to carry out R&D activities with the approval of the Republic of Turkey's Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology on 25.05.2017.

Can R&D Center is located in the factory area of Can Tekstil Entegre Tesisleri ve Tarım Ürünleri San. Tic. A.Ş. and continues its activities in the fields of textile and agriculture. Our R&D centre enables our employees to participate in the production of innovative ideas and projects, contributes to the development of university-industry co-operation with approaches that will inform the future of the enterprise, contributes to the commercialization process of technology and it provides studies for the registration and protection of intellectual and industrial property rights through the application of efficient methods and approaches based on information and technology.

R&D Project Studies

Can R&D Center develops new product, machinery and equipment, process and technology development projects, as well as energy and environmental efficiency projects as part of its R&D studies. Some of these projects are given below.

Within the framework of the 1501-TUBITAK TEYDEP programme, the project entitled "Cleaner Production Practices in Can Tekstil: Can-Temizkom" has been successfully completed. In this project, it aims to contribute to an efficient production, to prevent the pollution of the environment and the utilization of natural resources and clean production practices, raw material supply, production, use throughout the product's life cycle and in the post-use disposal process; It is intended to prevent pollution and waste from its source, to minimize the formation of waste and emissions and the use of hazardous chemicals, to protect natural resources such as water and energy and the environment, and to reduce the costs of the enterprise depending on the use of resources.

With our project on "Environmental Cleaner Production and Wastewater Recovery" within the MANUNET III 1071 program, which is cleaner production oriented and in which we participated in cooperation with Turkey-Romania TÜBİTAK with 5 project partners, the project titled “Cleaner Production Practices in Can Tekstil: Can-Temizkom” was taken one step further. Activities to recover wastewater have been carried out.

In order to increase the importance given to our externally supported projects and to carry out multidisciplinary studies; under the HORIZON 2020-MSCA-RISE programme, cooperation has been established with 11 countries and 16 project partners. With 82.80% rating from this project on "Smart Textiles Made of Sustainable Textile Materials (SUSTEX)", which we carried forward together with Istanbul Technical University, our R&D center was entitled to receive the above-threshold award.

Under the existing bilateral cooperation between 2556 TÜBİTAK-QATAR (QNRF), our R&D centre attaches importance to academia-industry cooperation and as part of the 1071 programme, smart cities provided an application for the call for academy-industry cooperation in the thematic area. University-industry cooperation was established with Qatar under our project entitled "Development of Modular Smart e-Textile based Solar Cover for Temporary Shelters". In this project, compared to conventional solar tents, the smart tent developed by our R&D center is designed to add value.

CETEX CLUSTER AB 2021, in our externally supported project "European Cluster Excellence Program with ClusterXchange Scheme Connecting Ecosystems and Cities" ; new steps have been taken with respect to the sharing of knowledge, experience and knowledge in certain areas, individual or group capacity building, business development, networking, identifying new partners and developing business opportunities.

Era-MIN Joint Call 2021, ”Raw Materials for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy“ has been submitted a project application with the theme ”Reuse of Waste Stone Wool in Geotextiles/Stonewooltex“. Cooperation has been made with 4 countries and 5 project partners, which include universities as well as industrial establishments. The project received most of the good points from the adjudicators. The scientific part of the study "Stonewooltex" was given a very good assessment.

We are honored to participate, on behalf of the textile sector, with three technical researchers from Can Textile Integrated Facilities and Agricultural Products Industry and Trade Inc. Research Center, in the project 'Preparation of the Sustainable Consumption and Production National Action Plan,' conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey, specifically the General Directorate of Environmental Management, Air Management Department, and led by Bogazici University Financial Applications and Research Center (CARF)."In addition to our collaboration between the academy and industry and our externally supported projects, we are currently working with our equity projects in important fields.

As Can R&D Center, we have many studies to obtain sustainable fibre since 2018. Sustainable fibre production from stems and fruits of plants grown in our greenhouses, yarn studies and high performance fabric production are carried out.

Our R&D center which aims to be involved in many areas of technical textiles, it continues its activities in the fields of mobiltech and medtech. In this context, studies are being conducted on the applications of automotive seats with refrigerating properties. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been ramping up our medical work. In this product group, we produce; washable, environmentally friendly lyocell face mask was produced in accordance with TSE K 599 and turned into a commercial product as MEDE C-59 and Teeby brands. Also in this field, protective aprons with multi-functional comfort characteristics have been developed for health professionals.

As a different field in textile, we have studies in the field of conductive structures. In order to develop high-performance textile products, we continue to work on many product groups based on functional yarns.

Our company pioneered the production of woven fabric for outerwear using PLA (polylactic acid) filament for the first time in 2020, within the scope of sustainable and biodegradable properties.

As a Can R&D Center, we aim to develop production tracking by integrating information technology into our facilities to adapt to development technology in all of our projects. Established in 2017, our R&D center has successfully completed 52 equity projects in 2024.
