SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS

In line with the sustainability and transparency strategies that have gained importance in the textile and fashion industry in recent years, as CAN TEKSTIL, we act with the principle of using more sustainable, traceable, environmentally friendly raw materials / products in all our supply chain and production processes, starting from the design stage.

With this principle, the main sustainable and traceable resources used in our design and production processes are;

RECYCLED POLYESTER: It is the process of using fibers and / or yarns, obtained by collecting used pet bottles and recycling them. The technical / physical properties of our woven fabrics produced from fibers and / or yarns obtained by this process do not differ from the fabrics produced with normal polyester fiber / yarn and as an advantage, the negative impact on the environment is reduced. Because; the energy required for R-Pet production according to the energy required for virgin polyester production is less. Environmental pollution with the collection of waste pet bottles in nature decreases and also by processing more R-pet fiber and/or yarn in our production our dependence on petroleum as raw material decreases . We strive to reduce natural resources and environmental impact in our fabric production in order to comply with the sustainability goals and demands of our company and global ready-to-wear brands. With this principle, we increase our use of R-Pet fiber instead of virgin polyester both in our new fabric designs and in our existing fabric qualities, and we manage this process with GRS (Global Recycle Standard) for traceability and transparency. As Can Tekstil, 25% of the polyester we use in our production process as of June 2020 is R-Pet.

LENZING TENCELTM: TENCEL ™ brand Lyocell fiber is produced using environmentally friendly processes from woods, which are naturally sustainable raw materials. TENCEL ™ Lyocell fiber is known for its natural comfort and can be blended with a wide variety of textile fibers such as cotton, polyester, acrylic, wool, silk and cotton to increase the aesthetics and functionality of fabrics. The unique physical properties of TENCEL ™ Lyocell fibers provide high strength, efficient moisture absorption and softness to the skin. In addition, it can offer features such as botanical origin, sustainable production, skin softness, long-term softness, silky smoothness, enhanced breathability, color retention and biodegradability. As CAN TEKSTIL, we have been producing 100% TENCEL Lyocell or its blends with other fibers for many years and we have been certifying our quality by Lenzing for traceability and transparency and presenting it to our customers.

LENZING™ Lyocell Micro: Micro technology TENCEL ™ Lyocell fiber is also an extra fine and light cellulosic fiber produced from sustainable forests. Micro TENCEL ™ Lyocell fiber offers a more lasting natural comfort with its gentle softness and lightness. Fabrics containing TENCEL ™ Lyocell fiber provide the natural comfort of the skin with their superior moisture absorption feature. With Lenzing's Micro technology under the Lyocell fiber group, we add more lightness and softness to cellulosic fibers, producing drapery lightweight fabrics.

LENZING REFIBRATM:Refibra technology developed by Lenzing company covers the scraps from cotton garment production as well as wood pulp used to produce TENCEL ™ Lyocell fiber, which is used in fabrics and garments and is already successful in the market as an environmentally friendly fiber. Thus, Refibra ™ fiber is an important step towards circular economy for textile products and is the first cellulose fiber to contain commercially recycled material. REFIBRA fiber means 'Reduction, Reuse and Recycling'. With the identification system developed by Lenzing in the name of transparency, it can be determined and certified whether there is Refibra fiber in the final textile product. Thus, transparency is provided at every stage of the supply chain. While Can Tekstil is already very successful in the market with the fabrics it has developed for years using TENCEL ™ fiber, an environmentally friendly fiber, it has added Refibra ™ fiber to its resources in the new period and accelerated its sustainability efforts.

LENZING ECOVEROTM:With years of experience in the viscose fiber production sector, Lenzing company has developed EcoVero fiber as an environmentally friendly and traceable viscose fiber. Lenzing EcoVero fiber is produced from trees sourced from certified, sustainable (FSC® or PEFC® certified) forests. EcoVero fiber production has lower environmental impacts (emission and water) than conventional viscose fiber production. For this reason, Lenzing EcoVero fiber has been certified with EU Ecolabel, the world's leading environmental production standard. With the special production system used, Lenzing can identify and certify EcoVero fiber in the final product even after all textile production steps (yarn-fabric-sewn product). As Can Tekstil, 17% of the viscose fiber we use in our production process as of June 2020 is Lenzing EcoVero fiber.

BETTER COTTON:"Better Cotton" is cotton grown with the aim of reducing the pressure on the environment and improving the livelihood and welfare of farmers, and is a globally recognized standard for more sustainable cotton production. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) brings together farmers, cotton fiber ginning facilities, yarn-fabric-apparel manufacturers, retailers, brands, civil society and organizations in a unique global community committed to developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream product.. BCI observes principles that minimize the negative effects of product protection practices, use water effectively and attach importance to water accessibility and soil health, protect natural life, care and protect fiber quality, and spread decent work practices. As Can Tekstil, we have been a member of the Better Cotton Platform since June 2018, and as of June 2020, 18% of the cotton fiber we use in our production process is BCI certified.

ORGANIC COTTON:Organic Cotton is produced using completely natural methods compared to conventional cotton and enables sustainable agriculture by supporting the protection of nature. Process in organic cotton production; starts with the decision of production, application is made for certification procedures, the most suitable area for organic production is determined and this process continues until the organic seed turns into the final stage of production and a textile product. Organically produced cotton is kept separate and treated separately from conventional cotton at all stages of transportation, ginning, storage and textile production. As Can Tekstil, we prefer to use organic cotton instead of conventional cotton our production with this awareness and we manage this process with OCS (Organic Content Standard) as of 2020.

UMORFIL BEAUTY FIBER® TECHNOLOGY: The name “UMORFIL” originates from the combination of Latin "Umor" and French "Fil" words. Umor means moisture and Fil means yarn, and Umorfil means "Thread that supplies moisture". UMORFIL® is a registered supramolecular technology that combines ocean collagen peptide with textile materials such as viscose or filament products. It is a functional fiber that provides a very good touch and skin-friendly texture. It provides moisturization through the collagen it contains. It has more commercial moisture content than wool with 16-18% commercial moisture holding capacity. It is an environmentally friendly fiber with its biodegradable feature in nature. Thanks to its thermoregulation feature, it can balance body temperature. So it keeps warm in winter and cool in summer. It has silk-like shine, linen-like moisture control properties. UMORFIL® Beauty Fiber® can absorb UV-A and UV-B light and protect the skin. UV-B protection is 10 times more than cotton. The excellent deodorizing properties of UMORFIL® Beauty Fiber® continues even after machine washing. Due to all these superior properties, as Can Tekstil, we include Viscose UMORFIL® Beauty Fiber® in our new collection and pleased to present it to our customers’ appreciation.

EASTMAN NAIA ™: Cellulose obtained from wood pulp of fully renewable and traceable pine and eucalyptus trees is transformed into NAIATM fiber with a closed loop system with minimal environmental impact. By using completely sustainable, in soil&water bio-degradable NAIATM fiber in our fabrics, we provide comfort that comes from NAIA fiber’s softness, luster, drapiness, lightness and silky feeling, as well as breathability and moisture management with its fresh, cool and dry touch. NAIATM celulose fibre is also easy to use and care as the stains are easily removed, no pilling and wrinkle formation during use on the fabric surface and also durable to be washed.
